Aid for Guzmán Family's Hospital Expenses

Howdy! My name is Jesús Guzmán and I’m raising money to help my family who has recently run into much hardship.

My family has for a long time been a part of the greater Aggie community as my mother, Josefina, has worked as a custodian at Texas A&M in the Sbisa dining hall for 10 years. She has taken care of many students at Sbisa dining hall throughout the years and has even become friends with some. My sister, Belinda, also began working at Texas A&M two years ago as an employee of the Sbisa Chick-fil-a.

The reason I am requesting help is because of a terrible series of medical crises that my father underwent this past Fall. On September 19th, my dad had severe seizures that placed him in intensive care for more than a week, where he needed assistance with breathing. Unfortunately, during his recovery period, he fell on October 1st and broke his right hip, sending him back to the hospital in need of surgery. After his surgery, he had to stay in the hospital for two more weeks until he was able to walk again and return home. Most recently, he returned to the hospital once again for four days in late December due to the re-emergence of his seizures. During these weeks, my mother was unable to work most days as she was spending time to be with my dad. And since his accident, she has been working reduced hours in order to have more time to take care of him. This combination of large hospital bills and reduced income have placed our family under great financial stress.

I humbly ask those in the Texas A&M community for help in covering the hospital bills from my father’s accidents. In order to help us cover them, my family is aiming to collect $10,000. Just as my mom has supported the students of Texas A&M for many years, I hope that the Aggie family can support us in our time of need. Thank you!
