Yesterday, I found out that I lost my brother Jarvis Henderson. He was walking from the FedEx distribution center on Lakeshore Parkway where he worked to the gas station across the street. He was struck by a speeding vehicle and died on the scene.
My mother went to pick him up from work, and when she got there, his boss asked her to come inside. That's never happened before. Usually, he's out there waiting on her, but she knew something had happened when his boss made her come inside. They sat her down, and a few moments later, two Birmingham police officers walked up to her and broke the news that he was struck by a vehicle and he was no longer with us.
He was such a good person; he loved his family. He was only 34 and had his whole life ahead of him. Now, we're left with the unimaginably painful and unexpected task of planning his funeral. I'm making this GoFundMe to raise funds for his cremation and for the celebration of life memorial service we will have in the coming weeks. Any help would be much appreciated, and my family thanks you for your kindness and generosity.
