African Vision of Hope: 15 in 2015
This year MDF Instruments - Crafting Wellness department has partnered with African Vision of Hope to help raise funds for children in serious need of heart surgery. These children are currently under the care of Dr. Musuku who is a pediatric cardiologist at the University Hospital in Zambia. He works directly with African Vision of Hope to get these children to India for life saving heart surgeries.
African Vision of Hope is US non-profit organization committed to bringing immediate and lasting solutions to children and families living in extreme poverty in Zambia.
Together our goal is to raise funds for 15 children to receive heart surgeries in 2015. With your help, we can do it! The cost of sending one child to India to receive this life saving procedure is $3500. Today we are raising funds for Joshua Mwamba.
Joshua is nearly 7 years old and lives in Chainda, Zambia. He was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with right infundibular stenosis.
TOF is the most common cyanotic heart defect in which higher resistance to right ventricular outflow results in severe cyanotic symptoms. Sadly cyanotic defects often cause patients skin to appear blue in color due to the lack of oxygen saturation.
Actuarial survival for untreated Tetralogy of Fallot is approximately 75% after the first year of life, 60% by four years, 30% by ten years. This means that Joshua only has a 30% chance at living a full life. This is absolutely unacceptable! With a corrective surgery Joshua could celebrate his 8th birthday this November. With your help we can get him there!

Heart of AVOH Donation: $3500 Donation - If you or your company sponsors one child's complete cost of travel and surgery you and/or your company's name will be added to our Heart of African Vision of Hope Plaque. In addition your or your companies name will also be displayed on AVOH website as well as MDFInstruments.com. Finally, you will receive one MDF ProCardial C3 Stethoscope & one MDF Lenus Digital Blood Pressure Monitor, an update on the child you sponsored, and up to 10 African Vision of Hope t-shirts for you and your team.
