Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Thank you for your interest and for supporting the Africa Challenge and Project Maisha Bora . Here are the details of my initiative:
1. The Challenge:
To carry the DB Schenker flag to the roof of Africa, the Mount Kilimanjaro, 5895m amsl, the highest mountain in Africa and highest free standing mountain in the world. In my role with DB Schenker in the Middle East and Africa, my aim is to support our company's continued commitment to the growth of this continent and raise awareness of the opportunities and prospects of logistics in Africa.
2. The good cause:
By getting the DB Schenker flag to the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, this climb will benefit the people in the region, too. My aim is to support the East African Community with this adventure. Small scale, but definitely making an impact. For this matter I would like to raise funds to support the DB Schenker Kenya project “Maisha Bora” (Swahili for "Better Life"). This project focuses on funding commercial cooking stoves for the Muungano Wa Wajane group of women in Kenya - details about the project are outlined at the end of this fundraising summary.
3. How you can help:
This is an opportunity for you to do something good for people in need, to help advance lives and at the same time contribute to improvements in environmental sustainability. It is a concrete project, without any administration fees - your money goes straight to the women of Muungano Wa Wajane.
You can help by donating funds for small commercial stoves (see below) that are needed by the Muungano Wa Wajane group. Each stove will be used by members of the group to support them in their small food supply businesses and will help to provide meals to the communities. The stoves will replace other, inefficient, more polluting and more dangerous types of cooking. They help to prevent injury and health implications from cooking related to traditional fire burring. The modern stoves are also significantly more efficient and thus significantly reduce the environmental impact of cooking in Africa. They are long lasting and form a key pillar for personal independence and financial support for the members of Muungano Wa Wajane.
Each stove costs approximately 50 EUR. You can support by financing individual stoves (at the rate of EUR 50 each) - or - according to your financial means - parts thereof. Any donation helps us to achieve our target of min 50 stoves.
How we do it?
The donations will be used to support the project MAISHA BORA , in which DB Schenker cooperates with a social enterprise and producer of advanced cooking stoves - Burn Manufacturing. Donated cookstoves will be distributed to the recipients by our DB Schenker team in Kenya. This is how we work together to advance businesses and lives in Africa - with global expertise and local community engagement.

This is a personal donation request for a project that is very close to my heart. All your financial contributions / donations go directly to the procurement of the stoves and its distribution. There are no admin fees or other costs, so your money is efficiently invested. The proper use of donated funds will be verified by an independent third party and documentation will be made available to all donors for auditing after the project is completed. As this is a personal/private fundraising for a good cause, I am not able to issue donation certificates/ invoices. Thanks for your understanding.
