Advance Rent Payment in Order to Be Able To Move

Donation protected

Hi all, my name is Garrett Bowman. Don't really know how to start this. I feel like I write things like this all too often, but I feel this is different. I hate asking for help and I have always been fiercely independent but right now is no time to be prideful or independent. I need help. About a month ago, on may 10th my mom told me that we have 60 days to move out of our house or we could face eviction. Around this same time last year we thought this same exact thing would happen to us in the middle of the pandemic, but out of a stroke of luck we were able to find a new renter to buy the home we are currently living in and tried our best to get back on our feet and make sure we could be ahead incase our new home owner decided to sell the residence on short notice. Like many others covid affected us very hard, especially financially. I would speak about my parents' jobs but out of respect for them and their employers I will leave their job status out of the conversation, but to vaguely explain it essentially one of my parents, (primary income), has only been able to work part time because of COVID and the other is an essential worker. With essentially both hands tied behind our back, we were unable to make the necessary financial preparations in order to be prepared for something like this to happen again. This brings me to our current situation, after my mom told me that we had 60 days to move she also told me we would need around 3-4 months of rent in advance in order to move and find another place to live/rent. As previously stated we do not have the money for 3-4 months of rent in advance. Finding a place in california with 3 bedrooms that accepts pets, in our area (so both my parents can continue to work), has been exceptionally hard. As of now our only real option is most likely a two bedroom apartment to try to fit a family of 4 and one dog, which means unless we find somewhere else we would have to have one of our dogs stay with our friends, because it's hard enough finding a place with one pet let alone two. My pups are my best friends and I wouldn't want to do this to either one of them, but unless we get help we will most likely have no choice.

The reason I didn't put this out when I first found out we had to move is because, I was going to try to raise the 3 months advance rent by myself (i.e. selling a lot of things I own and looking for a job), but it just isn't possible to raise most likely around 10,000$ by myself in a two months span while also essentially single handedly packing up our entire house and getting it ready to move (Because both my parents work and my sister is in school). I have been struggling to gather the amount of money necessary to make this move. I have sacrificed everything to help my family and to make sure that we have somewhere to live. I've given up my dreams, a lot of my belongings, my time, my dedication, and my emotions for the support of others. I've tried and tried and tried to be a positive light for my family and those around me, and to take on this task by myself, but I just can’t do it alone. I am asking for help, and as much as this hurts me, to ask for money from others, I feel like I have no other choice at this point but to ask for help.

Today June 6th is my 19th birthday, I will most likely spend the day working and trying to continue packing things for our move as we only have until the 30th. I don’t ever ask for much from anyone, but for my birthday I have just one ask. I will link a go fund me under this tweet and any donation will forever be appreciated more than you know. If you can't afford to donate, I would be more than grateful if you could drop this tweet a retweet so that maybe someone who can is able to see this. I am so sorry to ask for help from you all, and I feel terrible asking for help, but I do not have anywhere else to reach out to. Thank you for reading, and again any help is greatly greatly appreciated. I promise that I will never give up and I will always stay strong for those around me, and I will not stop working until my family is in a better position. I love you all and I appreciate you guys forever. <3
