This December, I will be attending a medical mission trip to Lima, Peru alongside medical professionals and fellow Florida State University students.
As a Pre-Nursing student of Florida State University, I am a member of MEDLIFE , an organization that brings medicine, education and community development to under privileged Latin American countries. We achieve our mission through Volunteer Trips, the MEDLIFE Project Fund , and student empowerment.
HOW MEDLIFE HELPS
MEDLIFE brings mobile clinics directly to the local patients, providing dental, OB/GYN, and pediatric care. Mobile clinics also provide preventative tests and are equipped with a basic laboratory station for doctors. Not only will MEDLIFE provide patient care on-site, but we will offer year-round follow up care for those patients in need.
We will also provide age and gender specific educational programs that instruct and empower health-related topics, such as community development, hygiene information, and various school projects, to provide long-term benefits for the Lima community.

THE MEDLIFE MISSION:
Our mission is to help families achieve greater freedom from the constraints of poverty, empowering them to live healthier lives. Our patients did not choose to be poor, but they have chosen to strive toward a better life; MEDLIFE stands beside them in this pursuit.
We aim to achieve this goal through partnering with motivated individuals in poor communities working to improve their access to MEDs: Medicine, Education and community Development. MEDLIFE believes access to quality healthcare is a basic human right.

WHY YOU SHOULD SPONSOR ME
It would be an amazing opportunity to be part of this eye-opening volunteer mission trip, where my time would be dedicated to improving health care in Lima. This would be my very first medical mission trip, and I hope to continue doing trips like this in the future. As a Pre-Nursing student, being able to learn and work alongside physicians, nurses, and dentists while helping others in need would be an extremely beneficial experience. I’m also excited to use my Spanish skills to better connect and interact with locals. This will allow me to familiarize myself with their culture, all while being able to give something back to the community by helping to educating them on health practices.

WHERE THE FUNDS GO
The volunteer mission trip to Lima, Peru is a 9-day trip, including lodging, airfare, and donated medical supplies.
This is where I am asking for your help in sponsoring my trip.
The estimated cost breakdown for the trip is as follows:
CLINIC STRUCTURE:
• 3 days volunteering on-site at Mobile Clinic (Includes triage, general medicine, dental, OB/GYN, pharmacy, education, tooth-brushing stations, etc.)
• 1 day working with local community members on development project (staircases, bathrooms, schools, etc.)
• 1 day completing a tour of project site
• 2 days cultural tourism
COST:
• $755 -- Fixed Participation Cost (M-F Meals, In-Country Transportation, Lodging for 8 nights, Funding for expenses associated with volunteering and MEDLIFE'S operating budget)
•~$800 -- Estimated Flight Cost
• $15 -- Travel Insurance
• $200 -- Minimum suggested spending money
• $500+ -- Purchase & delivery of as many donation items as possible, such as:
Latex gloves
Masks
Ibuprofen
Thermometers
Thermometer covers
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Urine dipstick tests
Electronic blood pressure cuffs
Mebendazol
Gauze
Albendazol
Children and adult multivitamins and calcium pills
TOTAL GOAL: $2500

IF I SURPASS MY GOAL:
The remainder of the proceeds will be donated IN FULL to the MEDLIFE Project Fund .
100% OF ALL DONATIONS will go directly to the sustainable MEDLIFE Fund projects, without a single cent being spent on administrative or overhead costs.
