Adoption: Our name becomes his!

The only name he's ever known me by is "Dad" and it is our goal to make that title a legal one with your help! 

Seven years ago my life changed when he and his mother walked into the feedlot I worked at.  He doesn't remember it but I can still see the stick he brought me with a few leaves on it. He called it a flower, gave me a hug, and went off to play with his dog. From that day to this one my life has been blessed by them both.  His mother and I got married (finally!) last year after making plans to do so a couple of times. Each time we scheduled our wedding something happened and since we already considered ourselves to be husband and wife we took care of our family first.  Now I would love to officially adopt him to make our family complete. 

We will be using the funds we recieve to make our dream of adoption become a reality. Our goal is to have it completed before school starts next fall so that when he begins his 5th grade year it will be as a Hankins so we need to get the process started as soon as possible. If we recieve more than is needed it will be donated to help make an adoption possible for another family.

He is my son and I am his dad. Those two simple truths have never been questioned by either of us nor anyone else. It would mean the world to us to see our family name on the back of his jersey as he steps into the batter's box or up to the freethrow line. As we watch him practice writing his soon to be last name our hearts swell with pride that he wants this as badly as we do and then they break with the knowledge that we haven't been able to raise enough money to get it accomplished for him.
