Adopting Future Cornelison

Hi! We, Larry and Georgia, are working to complete our forever family and are adopting a teenager from foster care. When we started this journey over a year ago we thought that we would be adopting within Kansas, but we were unable to match within the state and made the intimidating decision to go nation. Although the legal costs are minimal, we are looking at having to travel possibly as far away as Georgia, in order to meet and bond with Kiddo, plus go back to move our child.
We had all ready renovated the house to fulfill government rules and to make Kiddo’s room a neutral, move-in-ready, room, so that it’s ready for her to make it her own room for possibly the first time in her life; all before we found out that we would be matched out-of-state.
Unfortunately, with the unexpected turn in our journey, we have all ready spent the budgeted nest egg and now face some expensive trips along with first time parenting expenses, such as a possible wardrobe or school supplies. Most foster families understandably keep a lot of their supplies to help the next foster child they take in. This leaves us dealing with a much bigger, and possibly expensive, unknown than previously expected.
Any help toward these unexpected expenses will be genuinely appreciated! We have had three puzzles made with inspirational quotes for Kiddo and anyone who donates will be written on the back of a puzzle piece, with the puzzles enclosed in glass so that everyone can see the names as well. Kiddo will then be able to see exactly how much she is wanted, deserves her forever home, and how many people were willing to help get her home. It'll take a lot to help her learn her worth and we hope this is fundraiser will also show her how important she is.
