Hi I'm Beth!
Eddie and I are college sweethearts. We dated for four years and we got married in August of 2008. Immediately following our wedding, we both started new jobs as teachers. I am a 1st grade teacher and Eddie teaches and operates the radio and broadcasting department.
We have spent the last 6 years involved with various student activities working with amazing kids in our community. Working with our students naturally led us to dream of the children we wanted. After two years of marriage we decided we were ready to start our family. Eddie and I have now been trying to start our family for 4 years. The first two years we just wished for it to happen and welcomed the idea of children. Those two years left us with heartache.
In the third year of our journey for a family we started to seek medical advice and chart diligently. Now in our fourth year of our journey we have furthered our search for answers in seeking out the help of Dr. Carnavole. We went into the appointment expecting to have a plan for several rounds of clomid and possible IUI’s in our future. That was not the appointment we had. We chose Dr. Carnavole knowing that he was the best at what he does. When he recommended IVF I was caught off guard. We had heard horror stories of how expensive and invasive IVF is.
We trust Dr.Carnavole and believe that his recommendation is the best chance we have at becoming parents.
Dr. Carnavole’s office was very specific in their recommendations and in the costs of the procedure. I have included a break down in the charges:
Baseline ultrasound: $313
Follow up ultrasounds (approximately 4 @ $226) $904
Office visits (approx. 5 @ $63 ea.) $315
Estradiol levels (approximately 5 @ $100 ea.) $500
Progesterone levels (approximately 2 @ $87 ea.) $174
Egg retrieval with intra-operative ultrasound $3054
Ultrasound guided embryo transfer $1782
Total for CFS: $7042
Hospital charges $4850
Anesthesia $500
Medication costs $3500
Assisted hatching $350
Total of charges: $16,242
Eddie and I are realists. We understand that this is a large amount of money. What makes this even clearer is that these are up front costs. This is an all or nothing procedure for us. With our official diagnosis being unexplained infertility we have come to a fork in the road. Eddie and I desperately want a family of our own. We have dreams of babies with our grandparents’ features. We are exploring our options as far additional income opportunities to save for our dream of a family.
We never thought we would be asking our friends and family for money. We take great pride in the life we have built for ourselves and we are humbled in our experience with infertility. Asking for help is one of the hardest things we have ever done.
I know that your time and resources are precious that is why we shared the individual costs with you. Any help you can give us in starting our family would be appreciated in ways there may never be words to describe. Thank you for taking the time to read our campaign and our story.
