ACE AWARDS LOS ANGELES 2020

Hello family and friends! My name is Sarah Steben and I am a Montreal based dancer and choreographer. Over the last two years I have been trying to get my name and work out in the Los Angeles dance industry! 

Before 2019 ended I received amazing news that my choreography was selected as a finalist for this years Capezio ACE Awards happening in Los Angeles on January 15th. Amongst hundreds of applicants I am so honoured to say I will have the opportunity to showcase my choreography at this prestigious event.

I have decided to bring 7 Montreal/Quebec based dancers to help bring my vision to life on stage. Allanna Cave, Pascal Jodoin, Marco Edouard, Valmont Harnois, Maude Beaulieu, Marilyne Caron-Proulx and Mary-Lee Brunet. I want to showcase the talent we have in Quebec on a large platform in Los Angeles in front of the industry's top directors, producers, choreographers and agents. 

With this venture we inevitably run into a lot of costs including travel, accommodations, rehearsal space, costumes, music mix etc... and then the US exchange rate. We are hoping to be able to offset some of these costs by fundraising! The funds that we raise will be equally divided amongst the dancers so that we can focus less on the financial stress of getting to LA and more on giving an amazing performance. 

As dancers/artists, we often just bite the bullet for the love of our craft and suffer the financial consequences later. With the amount of times I have done this in the past, I have learned that sometimes it is okay to reach out for help instead of becoming overwhelmed with how much money it costs to travel to gain experience, training and knowledge. I feel so lucky to have dancers that agreed to participate without hesitation and I feel that it is important to recognize that their support for me will never be taken for granted.

With your help, we will be able to focus on bringing the best quality work to LA and represent our city, province and country. On behalf of the dancers and myself we would be forever grateful for your support no matter how big or small. It will surely make this experience an unforgettable one as well as help us focus on being at our best artistically without the added financial stressors.
