My name’s Kip-Tommie and I'm a van dwelling trans non binary person in need of funds for top surgery. Ive been planning this and doing all the cis-tem required box ticking for around 2 years, despite wanting to yeet my teets for much longer.

Top surgery for me would be life changing, to be able to live without chest dysphoria is something I've never experienced. I'd love to be able to get dressed without anxiety, exercise, and go about my life without the constant pain and discomfort of binding. At the moment my daily life is clouded by constantly worrying about how my chest looks, if my binder is visible, feeling uncomfortable in my own body and also feeling in pain and restricted due to my binder, which I often wear for over 12 hours a day - way above the recommended hours.

I'm starting to get back pain and nerve tingles, due to my body not being able to relax.

 

The NHS waiting times are awful, it's at least 36 months just to get seen by someone, which is only the start of the process, you then have to be diagnosed and referred. The total time to have to wait would be 4-6 years minimum. I cannot for the sake of my mental wellbeing, wait this long while my life is on hold.

 

Going private is expensive and also comes with long wait times, however I have managed to gain my diagnosis of gender dysphoria and have 2 letters recommending me for surgery. I have seen my surgeon for 2 consultations and require just 1 more as a check in before surgery.

 

My surgery is booked for september 2022! So the race is now on to be able to raise these funds in time!

 

I hope to be able to save some myself to contribute towards this, however I will be starting Uni in September so I know finances will be tricky.

 

My surgery costs £7,500. I have spent around £800 already for diagnosis, consults and travel to these appointments. Unfortunately, these pricings are super unaccessible.

I made a film for my art foundation course and walked around brighton as a sad-titted squid and have attached the video so you can have something to consume for your money - even if it is just mild amusement at the poor costume construction ;)

 

I would love to also do a fundraising event - but I want to set the target for my full surgery amount just in case this doesn’t end up being viable.

 

If there was any situation where I raised enough money to pay for the surgery and there was leftover, this would be redistributed to other gender affirming surgery fundraisers, especially those who are POC, disabled or fat, as these groups have a much harder time accessing healthcare than I do as an able bodied white person.
