A Baby for John and Erin!

Dear Family and Friends,
As only a few of you know, we have been on a long journey in the quest of parenthood. We have wanted nothing more to start our own family for the past 8 and a half years, and I have wanted nothing more than to hold a precious baby in my arms and call him/her my own.
John and I have done everything we can think of to get going on the crazy parenting train, and have been exhausted in the process. We have been going through fertility treatments and procedures with no luck and we knew that the next step would be IVF. After 3 failed IUIs, one trip to the ER, medications, acupuncture, and numerous doctor visits, something that seemed like a long shot was now our next option. Looking at the cost, ($15,000 that insurance does not cover) we kept wondering how a teacher and a banker could come up the funds to do it. We can try for another loan, but it's like adding fuel to our fire that has been burning ever since we started college, (and John is still on the job hunt) we just don't want that number to keep rising.
Then, we thought of fundraising. We know that there are countless numbers of fundraisers all over the world for so many different causes, why not for a baby? We thought it would be a crazy idea, but after looking online, so many couples have been able to raise money for the same thing!
We have also looked at adopting numerous times, and is just a costly. The fertility center which we have been going to (our second home) has fantastic success rates with women my age through IVF, and if you know my husband, it's hard not to desperately want that DNA in a baby of our own!
It is really scary asking others for help, to throw our pride to the side, especially with something this big and with hard economic times for so many people. We are shooting for $10,000 and we'll use our savings to cover the rest. Knowing that our family and friends helped bring our future baby to us will make it so much sweeter and meaningful.
John and I have gone back and forth wondering if we want to ask such a thing from other people, and if we even wanted it "out in the open." Today marks the end of Infertility Awareness Week, and I take that as a sign to do my part and make others more aware of the emotional, physical and spiritual stress that a person goes through because of this. I want to be very open with the process we have gone through and will be going through. If you have any questions, please e-mail me through the message location on this site.
We do not want something for nothing. If you donate any amount, you will receive a gift from us in some form! We are still trying to come up with other ways to repay for your kindness, and you WILL receive the rewards below. If you aren't able to donate, please spread the word to others and send us your thoughts and prayers.
We love all of you!
Soon to be mommy and daddy,
Erin and John
