Rupp is about to celebrate his second birthday. Instead of having a doggie birthday celebration with friends at the dog park, however, he will be stuck in his crate, recovering from injuries sustained from being hit by a car on Sunday night, 7/15. Miraculously, not only did he survive the accident, but he was also able to avoid long-term internal, skeletal, and nervous injuries; he did, however, sustain a broken right front humerus from the initial impact of the accident, and a dislocated back left hip after he was subsequently run over. Veterinary specialists were able to do what they do best and conducted a successful surgery the next day, and in time, he should make a full recovery (he will be confined to his crate for the next six weeks as his body and limbs regain the strength necessary to bear his body weight, and will have limited mobility for another 6 weeks after that until he regains full strength).

Of course, while the veterinary hospital provided excellent work in a time of dire need, such care does not come cheaply – expenses from the surgery and initial treatment alone were over $5,800, and follow-up visits and check-ins will raise the total costs of treatment to well over $6,000. While the companionship and health of your best friend are well worth that total, it is a difficult burden to bear alone. Please consider making a contribution to assist with paying for the cost of his treatment. Any amount will help, and Rupp will surely thank you himself if you see him out once he has fully recovered!

With humble gratitude,
