Volunteer as a Teacher in South Africa

Everybody out there is trying to raise money and "change the world" - I get it, it's tough and frustrating to choose who deserves your thought and donation. That's why I've not entered into such an endeavor before, but Raise The Children was paradigm-shifting. Their idea isn't to bring outsiders into Johannesburg and simply 'save' lives, but rather grants ownership to the partnering schools by providing scholarships to 5 orphans for each intern that is able to raise money and volunteer with them. Development has SO much to do with sustainability and RTC is owning that aspect whole heartedly and with humility to serve some of the most deserving children in the world. RTC partners up with schools and annually sends interns to go teach them, covering room and board but leaving other expenditures such as airfare, travel and transportation to the interns discretion: they must raise these funds to volunteer. In the last 4 years of operation, Raise The Children is now poised to achieve more than 50% university admission rates for its' students.
