La parrocchia Santa Teresa di Calcutta è stata inaugurata e consacrata domenica 7 aprile 2019 nella zona Porta a Terra tra il Borgo del Magrignano e la zona della Padula, periferia ad est della città di Livorno.
The parish of Santa Teresa di Calcutta was inaugurated and consecrated on Sunday 7 April 2019 in the Porta a Terra area between the Borgo del Magrignano and the Padula area, on the eastern outskirts of the city of Leghorn.
La parrocchia nasce presso un capannone di un ex supermercato, quindi le attività svolte erano minime, riguardavano la liturgia, la catechesi e la Caritas. Nonostante la mancanza di spazio, era già fino a due anni fa un luogo di incontro e aggregazione delle famiglie, in cui il Gruppo Famiglia organizzava cene di beneficienza, eventi ludici, tornei di ping pong e biliardino nel cortile del capannone, giochi di gruppo e convivialità.
The parish was born in a shed of a former supermarket, so the activities carried out were minimal, they concerned the liturgy, the catechesis and the Caritas. Despite the lack of space, until two years ago it was already a place for families to meet and get together, where the Family Group organized charity dinners, playful events, ping pong and table football tournaments in the courtyard of the shed, group games and conviviality.
Dal giorno della consacrazione, don Federico Mancusi, assieme alla comunità, ha cercato di offrire nuove attività, seguendo gli orientamenti diocesani e i bisogni sociali in una zona dove non c’è niente, in cui i bambini non hanno spazi per giocare, i giovani non hanno centri di aggregazione e gli anziani non hanno un luogo in cui passare giorni sereni.
From the day of the consecration, Fr Federico Mancusi, together with the community, has tried to offer new activities, following the diocesan guidelines and social needs in an area where there is nothing, where the children have no space to play, where the young people do not have any aggregation centres and the elderly have no place to spend their peaceful days.
I luoghi educativi e di aggregazione più vicini sono in centro città e non tutti riescono a raggiungerli in maniera agevole. Distanza, urbanizzazione, viabilità e barriere architettoniche non facilitano il tutto, per cui l’obiettivo è quello di fare nascere un Centro Pastorale Educativo per quest’area di periferia.
The closest educational and meeting places are in the city center and not everyone are able to reach them easily. Distance, urbanization, roads and architectural barriers do not facilitate everything, so the goal is to create an Educational Pastoral Center for this suburban area.
I giovani che gravitano attorno alla parrocchia sono molti, essendo sede della pastorale giovanile e sono tutti giovani volontari al servizio per la comunità.
The young people who gravitate around the parish are many, being the seat of youth ministry and they are all young volunteers at the service of the community.
L’oratorio è il luogo in cui i giovani iniziano a sperimentare l’educazione civica e l’educazione al volontariato, mettendosi a disposizione della collettività e dove si svolgono attualmente : attività di animazione ( gioco, sport, relazione, conoscenza, crescita, corsi di formazione per catechisti e animatori); attività sociali e civili ( Caritas, Centro di ascolto, donazioni ai carcerati, dialogo con associazioni che operano nel territorio, corsi di educazione al sociale, corsi per HACCP, corsi per operatori di soccorso in Misericordia e uso del defibrillatore); attività culturali (esposizioni artistiche, esibizioni musicali, esibizione artistico-musicali, doposcuola, Lectio divina, canto); attività intergenerazionali ( laboratori, gioco, ascolto, lettura e racconto).
The oratory is the place where young people begin to experiment with civic and volunteer education, making themselves available to the community and where they currently take place: entertainment activities (games, sports, relationships, knowledge, growth, courses training for catechists and animators); social and civil activities (Caritas, listening center, donations to prisoners, dialogue with associations operating in the area, social education courses, courses for HACCP, courses for rescue workers and for the defibrillator usage); cultural activities (art exhibitions, artistic-musical performances, after-school activities, Lectio divina, singing); intergenerational activities (workshops, play, listening, reading and storytelling).
Adesso è arrivato il momento di ampliare l’offerta sociale e di aggregazione per le famiglie, i giovani e meno giovani, che attualmente hanno a disposizione un solo auditorium per gli incontri parrocchiali e le attività ecumeniche.
Now the time has come to expand the social and aggregation offer for the families, the young and less young people, who currently have only one auditorium available for parish meetings and ecumenical activities.
Manca uno spazio esterno attrezzato per le attività ricreative, che dia la possibilità di avvicinare gli uni agli altri, donare svago ed allegria a tutti e che accolga a braccia aperte anche le persone con disabilità fisica, un luogo dove up e down non esiste, così come ci ha insegnato Madre Teresa.
There is no outdoor space equipped for recreational activities, which gives the opportunity to get closer to each other, give fun and joy to everyone and that welcomes people with physical disabilities with open arms, a place where up and down does not exist, so as Mother Teresa taught us.
Il parco inclusivo permetterà la condivisione degli spazi, potrà abbattere le barriere che spesso troviamo nel contesto urbano facendo sparire il concetto di diversità e donerà un sorriso soprattutto a chi ne ha più bisogno.
The inclusive park will allow the sharing of spaces, it will be able to break down the barriers that we often find in the urban context, making the concept of diversity disappear and will give a smile especially to those who need it most.
Il parco sarà formato da un’altalena a cesto e una tradizionale, giochi a molla, un’area giochi in legno al 100% inclusiva, un campo sportivo polivalente (calcio a 5, basket, volley e tennis), un bocciodromo e una serie di panchine in legno il tutto immerso nel verde tra aiuole ed alberi a fusto.
The park will consist of a basket swing and a traditional swing, spring games, a 100% inclusive wooden play area, a multipurpose sports field (5 vs 5 football, basketball, volleyball and tennis), a bowling green and a series of wooden benches all surrounded by greenery among flower beds and trees.
Come conglomerante tra gioco, inclusione e fede verrà realizzata anche una piccola area per le celebrazioni all’aperto, utile per l’attività liturgica nelle giornate estive con panchine rimovibili e un piccolo altare in marmo, già presente negli arredi parrocchiali perché oggetto di precedente donazione privata.
As a conglomerate between play, inclusion and faith, a small area for outdoor celebrations will also be created, useful for liturgical activity on summer days with removable benches and a small marble altar, already present in the parish furnishings as the subject of a previous private donation.

1. Area giochi inclusiva di 220 mq di cui 140 mq pavimentato con superficie antitrauma.
2. Campo sportivo polivalente di 520 mq.
3. Campo per le bocce di 110 mq.
4. Area per attività liturgica 120 mq.
5. Aree comuni 50 mq.
The park will have a total area of about 1000 sqm divided as follows:
1. 220 sqm for the inclusive play area of which 140 sqm is paved with anti-shock surface.
2. Multipurpose sports field of 520 sqm.
3. Bowls field of 110 sqm.
4. Area for liturgical activities 120 sqm.
5. Common areas 50 sqm.
