The NOVA Royals Baseball Club wants to help 29 Diner continue to feed families around Fairfax County. John Wood, owner and operator of 29 Diner, has been a generous supporter of our organization, and during these unprecedented times, when so many are experiencing uncertainty, John and his team created a community pantry where they have been feeding local families and acting as true heroes as we continue to navigate the effects of the pandemic. We feel that it's in the true spirit of sportsmanship that is inherent in the NOVA Royals Baseball Club to help support John, 29 Diner, his employees, and those in our community in need.
Our goal is not a small one. But we know that together, we can make a huge difference and support a small, local business that has supported us so generously in the past. All of the money being raised will go toward filling the community pantry which is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and serves people in Fairfax in need.
"My wife and I have been delivering food to families alongside John and other friends of 29 Diner for the last 4 weeks and what he is doing is amazing!! He truly is a hero. Anyone in need can show up at the diner any day of the week and he will feed them. No questions asked. We have been delivering to families from the Fairfax community that cannot get there on their own. The stories I could tell about the reactions on the faces of these families that are in dire straights when we show up with groceries and hot food is incredible!!" said Rick Freeman, the executive director of the NOVA Royals.
