West Sussex Firefighter Recruits Pier to Pier

Donation protected
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service Wholetime Recruits are raising money for the Firefighters Charity and Fire Aid - who are currently supporting Ukrainian Firefighters.

On Friday 25th March, our 11 recruits will be walking from Bognor Regis Pier to Worthing Pier (15 miles) in full fire kit, with BA sets.

50% will be donated to each charity.

About the Firefighters Charity:

“We provide confidential, personalised support to the whole of the fire services community, delivering mental health, physical health and social wellbeing services at our centres, remotely, online and in communities around the UK. Championing the health and wellbeing of all those we support - serving, retired or dependant - we aim to ensure that our beneficiaries can live well, for life. And they’re not all firefighters. We exist to support all fire and rescue service personnel, whatever their role in the service. We are also here for all those who have retired, as well as for spouses and qualifying dependants.”

About Fire Aid:

“We are a UK-registered charity who brings together our members to provide ethical and sustainable donations of fire and rescue equipment and training to over 50 countries worldwide.
We achieve this by providing a unique database for sharing donated fire and rescue equipment and by encouraging and facilitating members to share expertise, best practice, funding and equipment to form joint projects and partnerships.“

Fire Aid’s statement on Ukraine:

“FIRE AID strongly condemns the Russian invasion and stands with the people of Ukraine.
The events unfolding in Ukraine have provoked a strong sense of unity within our fire and rescue family. Fire and rescue services, individual fire fighters, charities, and suppliers have all been united in their desire to support our Ukrainians colleagues and the emergency services in the country. During the chaos of conflict, you will always find fire fighters who stay within the war zone, not to engage in battle, but to protect lives and property.
Over the last week, fire services from across the UK along with a network of charities and fire sector suppliers have worked tirelessly to identify equipment and resources to be donated to Ukrainian fire fighters in need. FIRE AID are now working to coordinate this response to the emergency situation in Ukraine.“
