A Ramp for the Mustard Family

"When it rains ... it pours ... and it did ... and it does!"

I speak for my whole family with the following:

Teri and Mike have always been there for any of us (their family and friends). All you have to do is ask ... and they are there. So now it's our turn to be there for them.  They would never ask for our help, but our family knows what they are going through ... and it is important to us to be there for them.

So this is what we know: Teri has been fighting breast cancer since October 2016. She has endured multiple surgeries, infections, shingles, loss of hair, chemotherapy and now radiation and more surgeries to come. With all of this comes co-payments, lack of being able to work and ability to do household chores.

While Teri was dealing with her health issues, Michael (out of kindness) ignored his own health issues and ultimately lost his left leg below the knee following an injury to his foot.

Mike and Teri have had their (our) "Moms" living with them for years.  (Mom and Ann are best friends and look out for each other. Ann has become our second Mom.)  Now all four of them have health issues. Being caretakers for our "Moms" is not easy because of the "Moms" disabilities. Each has mobility issues and Mike's Mom (Ann) has fallen numerous times.

This brings us to why we are asking for help for them. They live in a great area, have helpful neighbors, and close access to emergency sources. So moving is not an option, at this time. And as we all know, moving late in life is too much stress (which the "Moms" would not be able to deal with.)

We need to make modifications to their existing home to allow easy access for them and for emergency providers. Currently, there are a minimum of 4 steps at every entrance and the "Moms" and Mike need an easier way in and out. Getting groceries into the house is a nightmare, at this time.  We have plans for a small covered deck and ramp out the back of the house to allow for easy access. Their are specs to be followed for any ramp access and this is the best location for it to meet codes. It needs to be covered to keep the snow off so they don't have to be shoveling ... constantly ... we live in the snow belt in upstate NY.

Please ... we need to fix this. We can do this with your generous contributions. So please give what you can.... anything will be helpful.
