A ‘Rae’ of light for Xmas
Donation protected
My name is Sarah. In the photo is Nicky (left) and Rae (right). Nicky is one of my best friends and Rae is her lovely daughter. Early in the summer Rae found a lump which was removed and found to be cancer, synovial sarcoma. She has been told to start chemo straight away and radiotherapy for between 3-6 months. She is 14 years old, the treatment may have long term affects on her heart, kidneys, and make her infertile. She will loose her hair and feel ill throughout. Her mum will not be working and will be with her throughout the treatment which means lots of overnight stays in hospital, with no income. Over Xmas they are also having to stay in Manchester or London hospital for further specialised radiotherapy for up to 6 weeks, miles away from home! So much for a young girl to be put through.
I have decided to shave my head to raise funds for them to be able to enjoy a nice carefree Xmas wherever they might be. I have never had short hair and I have always had a fringe as I hate my forehead so this is a massive challenge for me, but I’m grateful not to be ill. Rae is going through the bigger challenge. Any support you can give would be so appreciated and help me get this done!
I plan to do this on my birthday which is the 21st October this year, but this may be brought forward subject to Rae’s treatment schedule! Also trying to keep it a secret from them both. Nicky is not on social media so it should be fairly easy. Just don’t mention it to her!!!!!
Thank you for your support x
