We invite you to make a difference in the lives of children in rural villages of Nigeria. Educate the Children is a not for profit charitable organization established in 2005 to bridge the gap in the education of students in rural Nigeria and provide them with a foundation for success in school and life.
The chair of the board, Liz Akano visited the school site in Ugbele, Umuaka in Eastern Nigeria and saw the deplorable condition of the school where students were expected to learn. As an educator, Liz recognized the need for a new school. Our students deserve better.

The organization was founded with the belief that "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." (Nelson Mandela). As stated in the UN's Millennium Development Goals, education is the key to eliminating gender inequality, to reducing poverty, to creating a sustainable planet, to preventing needless deaths and illness, and to fostering peace.
Educate the Children board is a committed group of Canadians who believe that education is a fundamental right of all children and a responsibility that must be shared by all.
As a result of the Covid-19, our annual Harvest of Hope Dinner and Dance fundraiser will not happen this year. We are reaching out to you, our supporters, sympathizers, friends, family, and others to help us raise the needed funds to complete the 16 classroom block.
As you can see from the picture above, we still need to complete the flooring, ceiling, painting, and furnishing. We had originally planned to open this school for the students this year and with your help, we can still make it happen.
