A New Life for Dulce

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Pastor Luke, a medical missionary in Guatemala, and ask to help Dulce. Dulce is a ten-year old Guatemalan girl with Fanconi Anemia, one of the gravest diseases. Dulce has a bright smile and is good at math! In general, someone with Fanconi Anemia dies at an early age if he or she does not get treatment. The only cure for the disease is a bone marrow transplant. Guatemala does not have any hospital where a bone marrow transplant is performed. Dulce would need to travel to the US or S. Korea to get a bone marrow transplant. However, since the cost of a marrow transplant is so high (more than half a million), we have not yet found a hospital or a doctor who will promise to donate a pro bono medical treatment for Dulce. I have met so many of our doctor friends who want to help Dulce; but, the cost does seem to be something that one person or even a hospital cannot handle. While we were looking for help, graciously, JeonNam National University Hospital in HwaSun (whose president is Dr. YongYeon Jeong) has shared its willingness to help; however, the cost is too high for the hospital to deal with alone.

Today, I visited Dulce. Compared to a month ago, her condition looks worse. Dulce has severe pain in the bones of her back and extremities. Her face looks much darker. Dulce endures day by day with a whole blood transfusion every month, and her time does not seem to wait for her. This is why we want to begin the Project “A New Life for Dulce,” instead of waiting for a pro bono service from a hospital. The goal of the Project “A New Life for Dulce” is 100,000 US dollars. All of this fund will go to the cost of treatment and travel expenses of Dulce, apart from the support of JNUH HwaSun. The Project “A New Life for Dulce” will be held in the US, S. Korea and Guatemala. We pray that the Project “A New Life for Dulce” allows Dulce to get a marrow transplant as soon as possible. We pray that at least by the end of December, Dulce can begin treatment. The main reason that we try to get medical treatment in S. Korea and not in the US is that the cost of treatment in S. Korea is about one-third of that in the US.

In the name of our faithful Lord, I urge you to share “A New Life for Dulce”. Dulce urgently needs your monetary support as well as prayers. In the season of Advent, in which we are waiting for the coming of the Lord who is Life to each and every one of us, sharing Life for Dulce is the will of our Lord, and we are sure that it is the pure joy of our Lord. Please, take a look at Dulce’s face from the pictures, and we pray that you may see the face of our Lord through her face. We pray that Dulce can get her new life before Christmas. Anyone in the US who want to share Life with Dulce, please send a check payable to Healing Guatemala to the address: PO Box 1835 Duluth, GA 30096. Or go to gofundme. com. Anyone in S. Korea can wire the funds to the account of Healing Guatemala in Hanabank, whose number is [phone redacted]17-07605 (Won). Anyone in Guatemala can deposit the funds into the account of Healing Guatemala in Banrural, whose number is 3882009658 (Quetzal). Then send your name and address (and ID number of our friends in S. Korea) to my email ([email redacted]). We will send a donation receipt.

Our Lord is faithful. Amen.
