A Marathon Walk to raise funds for Rathmell School Trust

I am taking part in the 2024 Cave Rescue Organisation Ingleborough Challenge on Saturday 18th May 2024

I shall be WALKING the 26 mile marathon route and asking for sponsorship in support of Rathmell School Trust. Any donations towards this worthy cause would be very gratefully received.

RATHMELL SCHOOL TRUST

Following the closure of Rathmell Primary School in 2017, the Trustees of Rathmell School Trust, the charity responsible for looking after the School House and buildings, started the process of turning the former school into a community hub for the benefit of the local inhabitants. The building has been used for day and evening classes and has provided educational support for former pupils of the school, who are encouraged to use the facilities, free of charge, for additional tutoring.

The premises have also provided a venue for concerts, local events, and the ever-popular Sunday lunches, all of which has brought the community together, providing a meaningful social centre for the village and, particularly since the Covid years, had a positive effect on the mental welfare of the local people.

In the last seven years the reincarnation of Rathmell Primary School into Rathmell Old School has been an undoubted success story for the village, helping and benefitting many people of all ages on a fully inclusive basis – from students to refugees, farmers to musicians, welfare providers to wildlife conservationists.

This project has required not only a huge input of time and effort by the Trustees and volunteers, but also substantial sums of money, and despite numerous fund-raising events and the great generosity of many of the local people, there is still a considerable shortfall of funds.

More fund-raising is urgently required, so any donations you can make will be most gratefully received.
