Raising Funds for a Madrasa in India

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullah Dear Brothers and Sisters,

 

Ramadan Kareem to all of you. May Allah accept our worship in this month and forgive all of our shortcomings. This is the month to seek opportunities for good deeds and here is an opportunity for all of us to maximize our efforts in this month - Purchasing a Land for a Madrasa in India. 

 

Four years ago, Al-Manarat Academy established a small madrasa in the highly populated city of Chennai. It is a small rental space where kids and ladies gather every single day to read the book of Allah. They engage in the recitation of the Quran with Tajweed, Tafsir, Seerah, Hadith, Fiqh, Annual Workshops, Eid Gatherings, Ramadan Program, Food Drives, and many other educational and charitable programs. We also helped many people to set up businesses so that they can support their families and we also gave interest-free loans to many. 

All the students are educated for FREE as they are from low-income families. 

 

AlHamdulilah, the madrasa has grown rapidly in the past few years and we rented bigger facilities to accommodate the growing needs of this community. However, we are at a point where no further expansion space is available in this densely populated area and the demand of the community continues to increase for Islamic Institutions. 

 

After exploring different solutions, we decided - with the permission of Allah - to buy a land in the outskirts of the city. This will not allow us to buy an affordable permanent place but it will be big enough to fulfill the needs of the people. In addition, we will be making arrangements for bus services for the students who live further from the new Madrasa.

 

In the new Madrasa, we aim to continue to provide Quranic education mentioned above but also teach the students life skills so that they can become entrepreneurs and skilled workers who can earn halal means of livelihood for their families. This place will serve as a refuge for these Muslim children where they preserve their Imaan and find righteous companionship.

 

The first step in establishing this permanent shelter is raising funds for the land. As believers, we rely on Allah alone, however, we request the community to come forward and donate to this charitable cause.  Allah (swt) advises us in Surah Baqarah:

 

"And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining to spend]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good" (2:195)

If we don't build institutions to educate the next generation, then we will be throwing ourselves into destruction. Our lives will end so will our deeds but donating to this cause will serve as Sadaqah Jariyyah (a continuous charity).
