My friend Lisa is amazing. She's funny, silly and kind. Her heart is what draws you in, though, and then you're friends for life (a little gushy, I know). She has helped me in many different ways, from babysitting my special needs daughter to writing a glowing reference letter for my son. She is dear to me....and to numerous others. This is why I'm asking for your help. Please read Lisa's story; some of it are her words, some are mine, but together, I hope they move you to give.
Over a year ago, Lisa found herself becoming a single mom. It was an extremely difficult year, and I believe that she is turning a corner, emotionally. However, financially, she is hurting. Lisa works hard every day helping special needs children, as an Occupational Therapist. Her daily life is centered around helping others. This is what she has shared with me:
"I am still in that difficult situation; the process of divorce has been very trying for myself and my children. During this last year, and to date, I have not received child support. I have been the sole source of support, financially and emotionally, for my three children. With that said, I have been blessed to keep my head above water every month. However, there has been no room for saving. There are only so many hours a day one can work and still maintain and meet the needs of my children. On the weekends, I meet the needs of other special needs children, by volunteering in the special needs classroom at church. I have been a volunteer for over 4 years and my children volunteer, as well. I have also provided the opportunity for other special needs parents to attend special services and other church activities."
Now for the real problem, the reason why this campaign exists. Lisa found out a couple of weeks ago, the homeowners of the house she has lived in for the last 4 years, wish to sell the home. Her lease is up soon and she needs to be out in six weeks. She kindly asked them for an extension to allow her time to work extra hours and save for a new place. Unfortunately, even though they knew her situation, they said no. No extension, no opportunity to earn extra money. This, dear reader, is where YOU can make a huge difference. Lisa has found the perfect home for her family; a rent-to-own home that suits all of their needs. She just needs help raising the funds to secure it....by SEPTEMBER 15TH! Here's a little more what Lisa shared with me:
"My issue isn't being able to find a place or maintain financial needs on a monthly basis, it's having the finances to have first and last month plus a security deposit, upfront. The initial funds that would give us the freedom to move. Due to my husband's poor choices, my credit isn't good enough to receive a personal loan. I have no family in Florida and have nowhere to go with my children."
That says it all! I'm putting my money where my mouth is, and stepping up to help my friend. She sure could use your help, too! Please donate what you can so we can raise the money Lisa needs. I'm trusting and believing that God will provide for her, through you. Thank you!
