A Home for CherishLynn

On August 22nd, 2017, 10 year old CherishLynn's life changed forever. Her mother, Kayleen Welch, was beaten to death by her father.    ( See story here:  http://bit.ly/2vZj74u ). Within 3 hours of being told what had happened, Kayleen's sister, our daughter-in-law, and our son left to make the 14 hour drive to Wyoming to get CherishLynn. Josh and Jamie were given permission to take her home with them. After going to Colorado for Kayleen's funeral, they headed home to Kansas. A few months later they were granted permanent guardianship.
   CherishLynn not only lost both of her parents that day, but she went from being an only child to living in a new home with four other children. She has shared a small bedroom with her 3 year old cousin since she moved in. The three boys ( 5, 7 and 9 years old) share the other bedroom. It has become very clear they need more space.
   Josh works hard to provide for his family. Jamie is a stay-at-home mom who is homeschooling the two older boys while taking care of the very active younger kids. She also takes CherishLynn to meet her ride to and from a small Christian school.  CherishLynn says she loves her school! Cherish is making new friends at school and at church. She is doing well in this loving home. 
   With all the expenses of an additional child in the home, it is impossible for them to save the money to add on to their home. They need the space now! We are raising money for Josh and Jamie so they can build a modest addition to the house that will allow CherishLynn to have her own bedroom. It will also include an additional bathroom for the five children.
   It is spring and time to begin building! We can start as soon as we have the funds available! This money will go mainly to purchase the materials for the project. Josh and his dad have experience in construction and can do most of the work themselves. All donations will go directly to Joshua Gier. Won't you help?
