A Decade of Hope: The Murphy's IVF Journey

Story

Help Us Start the Family We’ve Been Dreaming Of Hello from the Murphy's. We are happy to meet you! Are names are Logan and Rachel Murphy, and we’re sharing this with open hearts and hopeful spirits. We’ve been married since 2014, and from the very beginning, our dream has been to build a family together. For the past 10 years, we've held onto that dream with hope, determination, and love—but the road has been far more difficult than we ever imagined. Starting a family means everything to us. It’s not just a hope—it’s the heart of our life together. Rachel is an only child, and in the past two years, she has experienced the heartbreaking loss of both her parents. Losing them without being able to give them the joy of a grandchild has been a painful weight to carry. I (Logan) am also the last male in my family carrying the Murphy name, and the chance to pass it on to the next generation is something that means a great deal to us. After a decade of trying and countless emotional highs and lows, we've been advised that IVF is our best chance to become parents. We’re stepping into this journey with faith and hope—but we simply cannot do it alone. Our Journey So Far Our story began with excitement and hope back in 2014. We spent several years trying to conceive naturally, but in 2018 we sought professional help from Blue Sky Fertility in the Kansas City area. That fall, we began the first round of testing and started prescription medications. When those efforts didn’t work, we turned to IUI treatments in the winter of 2019. Sadly, they were also unsuccessful. The physical toll, emotional strain, and financial stress eventually forced us to pause treatment. It was an incredibly difficult decision, but one we had to make. In the years that followed, we kept trying and kept hoping. But after Rachel’s parents passed, we knew we had to try again, this time with everything we’ve got. We’ve returned to Blue Sky Fertility, and IVF is now our final, most hopeful option. Our IVF Plan & Financial Need As of May 2025, we’ve begun updated testing and planning with our clinic. These early steps include a fertility workup and personalized IVF timeline. If all goes well, we’ll begin the process in August, with the hope of creating viable embryos by October. Unfortunately, insurance offers little to no help. Nearly all of our expenses will be entirely out-of-pocket. Here’s a breakdown of expected costs from the clinic after running it through our insurance: Initial testing, clinical visits, prep medication (bloodwork, HSG, prescription supplements, etc.): $1,000–$1,500 IVF procedure and services: $8,500 IVF-related medications: $4,500–$7,500 Medication for frozen embryo transfer (FET): $1,500 That brings the total to $15,500–$18,500, just to have a chance at pregnancy. And that’s before any expenses that come with carrying a child. It’s a staggering number—but for us, it’s the cost of creating the life we’ve spent a decade dreaming about. With Gratitude and Hope This journey has tested us in ways we never expected—but our hearts remain open. IVF gives us one final opportunity to start the family we’ve hoped and prayed for over the past 10 years. We are humbly asking for any assistance you can offer. Every single bit helps. Whether it’s a donation, a share of our story, or a kind word—your support is a part of this story, and of our future. To honor the generosity that helps us on this journey, we’re planning a recognition piece—something lasting that we can one day share with our child. Our dream is to show them the love and kindness that made their life possible, and the beautiful reminder that they were never alone—they were hoped for, loved, and supported by a community. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being part of this journey with us. With love and gratitude, Logan & Rachel Murphy

Help Us Start the Family We’ve Been Dreaming Of
Hello from the Murphy's.

Our Journey So Far

Our story began with excitement and hope back in 2014.

Our IVF Plan & Financial Need

As of May 2025, we’ve begun updated testing and planning with our clinic. These early steps include a fertility workup and personalized IVF timeline. If all goes well, we’ll begin the process in August, with the hope of creating viable embryos by October.

Unfortunately, insurance offers little to no help. Nearly all of our expenses will be entirely out-of-pocket.

Here’s a breakdown of expected costs from the clinic after running it through our insurance:

  • Initial testing, clinical visits, prep medication (bloodwork, HSG, prescription supplements, etc.): $1,000–$1,500
  • IVF procedure and services: $8,500
  • IVF-related medications: $4,500–$7,500
  • Medication for frozen embryo transfer (FET): $1,500

That brings the total to $15,500–$18,500, just to have a chance at pregnancy. And that’s before any expenses that come with carrying a child.

It’s a staggering number—but for us, it’s the cost of creating the life we’ve spent a decade dreaming about.

With Gratitude and Hope

This journey has tested us in ways we never expected—but our hearts remain open.
