Women in Athletic Training Startup

Donation protected
Who does this benefit?
A whole professional, international network of women with various backgrounds in the athletic training field to discuss prevention strategies, treatment options, rehabilitation protocols, emergency management, communication tactics, and problem-solving.

What will the funds be used for?
Sponsor networking events (such as at NATA), create scholarships, and to create awareness for athletic trainers that have to overcome the challenges of being a woman in the workplace (new mothers, sexism, prejudice, etc). Our goals for the fundraiser are to cover the costs associated with registering as an LLC and associated trade names, logos, etc. (this allows us to have a bank account that isn't a personal account), funding a site rental for a networking/forum session at convention, and affiliated advertising costs (flyers, stickers for badges, merchandise, etc.), and getting a website up and running. The benefits we see for having a networking/forum session at convention is to connect women who are looking for jobs, want mentorship from our more experienced members, and to share experiences. Also, we hope to be able to share major concerns or discussion points that come from the session with the Women’s in Athletic Training Committee or the NATA if the membership feels it is necessary. Through our website we hope to connect with more women than we can on Facebook alone and offer spaces for job postings, editorials, and more. These startup funds are only for those costs to help the group continue to grow.

When will we need the funds?
ASAP! We want to get this company up and running so that we can start planning for a meet-and-greet at the NATA convention.  We found there are a lot of steps needed to get to the proper 501c status with the IRS and that it may be very time-consuming. In order to organize anything for NATA this summer, we needed to establish a business account to make sure your donations are protected and managed appropriately. In order to establish that account, we need to be recognized as a corporation and get an employer ID number (EIN) from the IRS. We also need to have a recognized corporation to get the EIN, so that the organization is not inextricably linked to a single person. Long story short, we decided to go this route because it provides the most benefit for long-term growth of the organization and keeps it away from being just a "money-grab."

What will your support mean to us?
This group was created as a safe space for women in athletic training to share our unique experiences, network and develop our understanding on the best practices in this healthcare profession. Your support will help to give a voice to the women who feel oppressed in any capactity. "Empowered women empower women!"

Any and all help will be graciously and widely appreciated and accepted. Help make this beautiful dream happen! Thank you for your time.
