Help us fight the Homekey Project in Milpitas

Donation protected
【Update Nov 16, 2020】 After the Santa Clara Court hearing today, we have our case! As to prepare the next preliminary injunction hearing in Dec, Voices Of Milpitas LLC is asking for an additional $10,000 ASAP to cover the appraisal of Hillview Extended Stay. If 100 donors can chip in an extra $100 today, we can immediately move forward! Can we count on you?
----------
Please help us stop the Project Homekey in Milpitas. The residents in Milpitas had no voice in this $160 million housing project that seeks to convert the Extended Stay America Hotel in Milpitas into 132 apartments for Santa Clara County homeless population until year 2075.

The project is scheduled to complete soon: TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

We, as residents of Milpitas, are determined to bring a community-based litigation against the project. We already raised $20,000 and retained a reputable law firm. However, we need another $30,000 for the lawsuit.

WE THEREFORE KINDLY ASK FOR YOUR DONATION TO HELP US STOP THIS PROJECT AND BRING THE COUNTY TO LISTEN TO OUR VOICES AND CONCERNS.

Based on the little information publicly disclosed by the County and developer, the project is intended to house only chronically homeless individuals with disabilities and a high acuity score, e.g., individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues who have been homeless for at least one year. According to the County's own documents, no families or homeless individuals from Milpitas will apparently live there.

The County is absolutely tone-deaf to our concerns. County Supervisor Dave Cortese even refuses to talk to us about this project. We are greatly concerned about the health and safety of our children and community. This project was not properly vetted but instead is rushed through in a record time without any administrative oversight or residents' input. This is not how democracy is supposed to work, and it ignores the rights and voices of our hard-working citizens in Milpitas.

The County even turned down the City's request to stop the project, and the City now decided not to move forward with litigation due to outside pressures.

All the donations go directly towards litigation costs, and we will keep the book open to our donors for full transparency.

Please chip in any amount you can. Please help to share with all your friends and families and neighbors. We must fight for our great City of Milpitas and its residents.
