Welcome to the University of the Incarnate Word Men's and Women's track and field team fundraising page! With the 2016 track season upon us we are excited to begin our third season as NCAA Division I members of the Southland Conference.
We made major improvements as a D1 program during the 2014-2015 school year! During the fall 2015 cross country season our women finished 4th in the Southland to secure our highest ever Southland finish and Rainy Castaneda was our first All-Conference performer with a 9th place finish! Our men and women are fresh off a record team performance at the 2016 indoor championships (women 5th and men 10th) with both teams scoring more points than either ever have. Now that we are in our third year as a Southland member we continue to work hard so that we can move up the conference rankings and make all of our friends, families, and fans proud of our academic and athletic accomplishments.
As we continue to grow as a Division I program we have financial needs that only our generous friends and family like you can help us with. Our ambitious goals for continuing to improve our program can only be made fully possible by you. We have a fundraising goal of $5,000 for 2016 which will be used to offset the cost of travel, purchase new Adidas training shoes and spikes for the team, and make sure that our student-athletes eat well during and after competitions.
We have a challenging outdoor schedule set for this spring. We will travel to the Texas Relays and the Kansas Relays along with hosting two home meets and travelling to Rice for a pair of highly competitive meets in March and April prior to our outdoor Southland championships in Corpus Christi.
We continue to be proud of how well-rounded our student-athletes are! During the fall semester they completed over 800 combined hours of community service and 160 hours of professional development. The men's team finished the fall semester with a cumulative 3.1 GPA and the women's team finished with a 3.55 cumulative GPA.
