Journey to South Africa

Hello My Loves-
As some of you may know, I've been involved in various community service projects throughout this year, and I must say, it has enriched my life! Volunteering is a constant reminder that my purpose on this Earth is bigger than me. It's about serving and encouraging others, and giving of myself and my time to those in need.
My most recent volunteer experience was two weeks ago with Habitat for Humanity; an organization I've been wanting to work with for quite some time. During this particular experience, I learned how to really use a paint brush for the first time (yes, really- lol) while assisting in painting an entire house for a family, in one Saturday. I can't explain to you the joy and motivation that experience left with me. Especially after seeing the faces of gratitude the two little boys and their mom expressed after we completed the work. At that moment, I knew I desired to do it again, but next time it would be on a greater level.
Little did I know that greater level would be arriving so soon. There is an amazing opportunity for me to travel with Habitat for Humanity in March, on a Journey to South Africa, to help build almost a dozen homes during a two week excursion.
Habitat for Humanity is taking action to eliminate homelessness and serving those who are economically disadvantaged, by providing shelter and housing around the globe. Though South Africa, is one of the more developed countries on the continent, there are still considerable economic and social problems existing from the apartheid era. There are almost 10 million South Africans living in destitute housing locations called townships. These are often overcrowded shacks with cardboard walls, pieced together with scrap material and old metal. Habitats' expansive philanthropy has provided shelter for 11,000 people in South Africa. I want to be part of this action to serve, and assist in their mission to express the beauty of humanity to this rising nation.
I've come up with a detailed plan that will afford me to embark upon this great adventure of giving back and creating awareness. My goal is to raise $5,500 to cover all of my expenses for this trip. It's simple, If 250 friends donate a minimum of $22, I will reach that goal! Of course, any donations above this amount would be greatly appreciated! :) UPDATE: My absolute FINAL deadline to make this payment is December 30th!!! I'm still believing in this miracle!!
Details from the trip, photos, and video diaries,will be captured and posted for donors viewing pleasure, as a virtual thank you for your gift into this rewarding experience. Links to these online destinations will be forwarded within 6 weeks of my return into the states.
