Thuy An Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children is a centre for children with conditions such as deafness, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism and Hydrocephaly in Thuy An, Vietnam.
Many of the children suffer these conditions as a result of Agent Orange, a defoliant chemical used by the US military during the Vietnam war. This toxic chemical not only affects the victims directly exposed to it, but generations after. It damages genes resulting in many birth defects, particularly those of the head and spine, the effects of which I work with at the centre.
Thuy An centre provides Speech therapy, Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy and education to the hearing impaired.
All funds raised will be used to buy winter clothes and toys for the children as well as to install sound absorbent acoustic tiles in the therapy rooms for the hearing impaired.
Even $5 AUD pays for a child’s winter jacket here in Vietnam (costing 85,000 Vietnamese dong) so every dollar helps.
