Help Me Teach Abroad

Donation protected
I am going to teach at the Jerusalem School - Bethlehem but I need your help!! JSB is a Christian, English-immersion school in Bethlehem. The job I'm taking is a volunteer position, so I need to raise the funds to live off of and buy supplies for my class. My immediate need is financial support and no gift is too small. Please feel free to give once or, if you feel called to, repeatedly. I will be living off of your contributions for the next year, so its never too late. Even above monetary support I ask for prayer. I truly believe prayer is the key to making my year there is a success!

About JSB and My Story:
As you may know, I just got back from a two week trip to Bethlehem. My team and I were there partnering with a Christian school in Bethlehem to put on a Vacation Bible School for their 1st-6th graders. Here is a picture of my teammate and me talking about King Hezekiah with the fifth grade (you can see one of our teammates playing the part for us in the corner)
I was really touched by my visit and have really developed a heart for the community in Bethlehem. Before, during, and since then I have felt the Lord calling me to work there, so now I am going to work as a teacher at JSB for the 2013-2014 school year.

JSB offers an English-immersion education for their students. The student body is mostly made up of a mix of Christian and Muslim Arabs who enroll for the unique language opportunity that the school offers. Not only do they offer the fluency learned only by native-speaking teachers, but the school is also accredited with the same accreditation as American schools, so their diplomas are acknowledged and accepted by American universities as well as others around the world. The chance to study or work internationally is a huge opportunity for the students. For more information, check out the school's website:

I was really impressed by the school's dedication to give the students as many academic advantages as possible while still focusing on Christ and the gospel. Even the Christian students come in having remarkably little exposure to biblical teachings or the basics of daily Christian living. I really feel that God is working in this area to share the love and hope that Christ teaches us rather than the bitter strife that permeates their world, and I am eager to be a part of it.

At first I was a little intimidated by the culture shock a move like this would involve, but now I am just excited to start a new adventure. The only obstacle now is raising the funds. In order to keep costs of tuition down and make enrollment more easily attainable for the families, JSB employs volunteer teachers. The principal and superintendent have both said many times that their number one need is volunteers, because the only way to make the school appealing and to serve the children properly is to have native speakers teaching.

With that being said, I wanted to ask for your help to get to Bethlehem and work for the 2013-2014 school year. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the school or my journey up to this point! Thank you so much for your support and I look forward to sharing what the Lord does on this adventure.
