To the residents of Greater Victoria and beyond!
Thank you for your interest in supporting us! We have lost roughly 25% of our 2017 budget due to a decision by Tourism Victoria to no longer provide winter funding support to our Festival Society. This news comes at the beginning of our very busy off-season and we have relied on this funding to maintain our winter operations until our established grant and sponsorships funding begin arriving in spring.
The Victoria International Buskers Festival is the largest family-friendly, free-to-attend festival on Vancouver Island. We provide hundreds of hours of world class performances featuring magicians, acrobats, circus performers, fire acts, musicians and more - all available to everyone in our community regardless of their income. We are also a major tourism attraction which generates millions of dollars in economic benefit to our downtown.
We reach out to you all now, in hopes that this campaign will help us cover the extremely disappointing and unexpected financial fallout facing the Buskers Festival Society as we head into our 2017 off-season operations. We believe our festival is one of the best things to happen for our waterfront since the loss of Folk Fest years ago and the fantastic performances have been embraced by young and old alike!
Your contribution can make a difference! Our operation expenses include office rent, staff and administration costs, insurance, and general expenses.
