Support LGBTQ Homeless Youth
Donation protected
Thank you for checking out my fundraiser. I'm Rachel Lee Walsh - a singer/songwriter, parent, and New Yorker.
I wrote the song "You Should Be Used To Us" in response to the anti-LGBTQ+ legislation being enacted across various states in the US. It's been making me both angry and personally scared, watching states put into place laws such as Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill and the potential overturning of same-sex marriage. Since March 2022, state lawmakers have proposed a record 238 bills that would limit the rights of LGBTQ Americans this year, with about half of them targeting transgender and gender non-conforming people specifically.
I am raising funds to record the song and also giving 50% of what I raise to support New Alternatives, a resource center dedicated to the care and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and HIV+ homeless youth in New York by addressing areas critical to their development and well-being: housing, physical and mental health, education, and employment. https://www.newalternativesnyc.org
This is a cause near and dear to my heart. Thank you for the consideration to make a donation.
