How would you feel if a private, for-profit corporation decided to claim part of your backyard for a pipeline carrying highly explosive gases?
Concerned Citizens of Lebanon County is a non-profit organization that protects local families from the dangers of pipelines, and from the intimidation tactics of companies claiming private land.
We are taking legal action against Sunoco to stop the company from using legal trickery to obtain permits for a pump station that pushes gas under very high pressure through the pipeline. Success means that Sunoco will NOT be recognized as a public utility and, therefore, it will NOT be able to use eminent domain authority to force landowners into giving up their land.
We need your help to fund our legal battle. Lawyer fees run over $250/hr and expert witness costs run $150-200/hr. Your money will be used solely to fund these legal battles helping to protect the health, safety and property rights of the citizens of Lebanon County, PA. Success will benefit landowners all along the proposed pipeline and everyone throughout PA. We need your help fighting Sunoco, the Goliath. It's expensive and we can't do it alone!
The Sunoco Mariner East (M.E.) pipeline project is claiming "eminent domain" - rights to take your property - against landowners along the 350 mile route in Pennsylvania. The 84 year old pipeline will carry hazardous gases - propane, ethane and butane. These gases are a significant risk to the health and safety of the public.
Pipelines do fail. Pipeline monitoring can only detect 1 out of 20 leaks (5.0%). Gaseous leaks into the air can lead to poor air quality and explosive conditions. Please help us take care of our community.
