Van 4 Quadriplegic

AWD truck for a Quadriplegic.
I’m Steve and was the victim of a violent crime, shot in cold blood, left to die on the street in Tallahassee, FL October 29, 1994. I'm a C5 Quadriplegic and a Type I Diabetic since the age of 3. At the age of 23 I was shot in an unprovoked road rage incident. Another driver got out of his car and walked up to my window, stuck a gun in, and pulled the trigger of a 380 caliber handgun. Fortunately I survived, however from the unprovoked road rage it left me as a C5 Quadriplegic on top of my Diabetes.
God has blessed me, in more way than I can count. My biggest blessing is with the hardest working parents who have helped care for me over the past 19 years. They’re retired now and we cannot afford to continue to repair consistently our 15 year old van. The van is literally falling apart. Many that have recently road with me can attest to this. My hope is to be able afford, through contributions and your help, something before the end of/or first snow fall 2014. My van’s served us well, and I need help to find reliable transportation.
I have become extremely frustrated with the lack of compassion car and wheelchair conversion companies have when it comes to affordability, among other things. The cost of wheelchair converted vehicles has doubled, maybe tripled, since I purchased my current van.
Those other things mentioned earlier are the lack of 4WD and no ground clearance in most handicap accessible vans. Especially in the mountains, where we live. Not only that, in order for us to get anywhere in the snow you have to have a vehicle with AWD, 4WD, or a 4x4. In my condition (C5 quadriplegic), that means transferring to an AWD car. So the only way for me to travel is in a handicap accessible van or truck which has a ramp that collapses out sideways to the ground for me to get out and back in to leave.
I found a company who converts 4WD trucks for the disabled. It is http://atconversions.com/ and has been long overdue!
I cannot thank you enough for reading, even more for donating. I would be so grateful if you could please help me with a contribution. Any amount would be a big help. I would be grateful if you could please pass this along to your contacts and networks as well.
Thank you so much for helping us! May God richly bless all of you with your dreams, while doing His will.
Love and peace be with you!
