US to Uganda: Volunteer Trip

Donation protected
US2UGANDA4life is an organization that exists exclusively to serve the needs of over 200 children at Jireh Children's Center near Masaka and a population of thousands at Kalungi Medical Center near Lukia in Uganda.  All members of the organization are volunteers meaning ALL funds raised by US2UGANDA4LIFE go to the orphanage and medical center!  Along with financial support, volunteers - like myself - donate their time, love and skills during self funded trips to Uganda.  My hope is to raise enough money by August to make my way to Masaka in October!  For more information about the Jireh Children's Center and Kalungi Medical Center please continue reading!  All donations are GREATLY appreciated!

Jireh Children's Center
Perched on top a hill outside Masaka Uganda, Jireh orphanage is home and  school to more than 200 children throughout the year, unfortunately the demand for care far surpasses the available resources. The modest buildings that were designed to house six children often accommodate more than 18 and with no other accesible facilities there is no where else for them to go, thus over crowding is unavoidable.

The orphanage has been in existence for more than a decade and our founding members have been supporting and watching the facility grow exponentially each year.  Our priority is to ensure that the monthly expenses needed to operate the facility are covered while providing the needs of the children and investing in projects that will allow the orphanage to become self sufficient.

Kalungi Health Centre
The Medical Centre - established in 1988 - was the only private medical facility in the area servicing a population of about 150,000 people.  The nearest hospitals are about 20 miles away from Kalungi, unfortunately some medical emergencies referred to these distant hospitals die before arrival.  Having started as a small dispensary the facility now diagnoses and treats a myriad of ailments that are common in areas such as this where the population is living in poverty.  In 2011 the Clinic was a warded a license to begin a nursing school and now boasts over 100 nurses in training.
