SAVE LIVES, FORESTS, ORANGUTANS

Donation protected
To Dr. Rina's generous supporters: you may have seen the hiccup in our effort to raise funds to support this young woman in her quest to save lives in Kalimantan. Our old CrowdRise page was switched off, unbeknownst to me, when that site was sold to GoFundMe. But your gifts have already gotten us two-thirds of the way towards our financial goal of $15,000!

And you already know that our program goal is to save lives, save forests, and save orangutans through Dr. Rina and the team at Health in Harmony's new little Kalimantan hospital. We have reaised $10,000 of the $15,000 she needs for tuition to complete her residency in anesthesiology.

I hope you will consider helping us get all the way there now.

I am sure you remember why this matters: Because poor health and crushing poverty drive villagers of Kalimantan (Indonesia’s part of Borneo) to log illegally in order to pay for health care. They log in Gunung Palung National Park, home to 10% of the world’s remaining Bornean orang utans in order to survive.

Rain forests are being lost at a rapid rate. Forests regulate air, water, climate, and even disease. When the rain forest suffers, so do we. But for many people, exploiting natural resources, like cutting down trees to sell, is the only way to afford health care and support their families. When we suffer, so does the rain forest.

Many families are forced to make the impossible choice between short-term survival and future well-being. But their choices impact ecosystems all over the world - and therefore our Earth's climate - so these choices impact us all.

Consider this:

· Borneo’s orang utan populations have decreased by 25% in just the last ten years.

· But 25 of 1,000 infants born in Indonesia die before their first birthday.

Who among us wouldn’t cut a tree to pay for healthcare, thus saving our infant’s life? But at the same time destroying forest homes of critically endangered orang utan….

A tragic choice - that no longer needs to be made because of your help!

Dr. Rina will be our agent of change. She will be at Health in Harmony’s new little hospital with her surgeon husband, where villagers get health care in exchange for quitting logging. And she will be there because of our investments in her education, her future, the future of both people and the forests of Kalimantan.

This is where our investment will go, in the person of Dr. Rina. Join me in taking our campaign across the $15,000 finish line! We are two thirds of the way there; all we need is another $5,000. Together we can do this! So please send your support now.
