Save The Benny Forest

The Benny Forest is a beautiful and pristine old growth forest 75kms north of the Greater City of Sudbury. It is also the ancestral land of Clyde McNichol’s Anishnaabe people. Clyde and his wife, Barbara are owners and operators of Camp Eagle Nest, a traditional native and contemporary arts center that host wilderness adventures.

Camp Eagle Nest is taking leadership in protecting the forest area near its base camp from encroachment by loggers, excavators, herbicide spraying and other disturbances so that all the original plant and animal species can survive in balance and harmony, for the sake of all future generations as well as our campers.

We currently have a winter base camp set up and are in need of funding to file the written injunction we have, to continue our appeal in court, to continue land studies and for supplies. Clyde, Barb, and a couple other volunteers have been braving the cold nights in a prospectors tent on the land. In order to keep our positive and creative presence on the land, we are seeking donations right away.

The campers and the forest are fuelled by your support and very grateful for your generosity.

Artists, scholars, and investors are needed to help purchase or build facilities and establish an arts cooperative and “Living/Learning Centre” that can help preserve the land in a more natural state.
