Save Bridgton Marina

For the past 50 years, Bridgton Marina at Obelazy Lane, has been a home to many to create unforgettable childhood memories. Friendships that are like family have been made, love has been found and a strong and loving community has been built.

Saturday, July 1st, while everyone was there to begin their long July 4th holiday weekend, an EF1 Tornado with 110 mph winds ripped through and destroyed the land within minutes. Cars were crushed along with campers and chalets that had been a part of family generations, suddenly destroyed by the surrounding trees.

Here is a link to the story on the news and a picture.

I have added a lot more pictures of the grounds, cars and destroyed homes here: Photos of the campground

We are so thankful that there was only one injury and everyone is OK. As the shock wears off it leaves only one goal - to rebuild the community that brought everyone together and a part of each others lives so many years ago. To rebuild a place that formed so many precious memories so that children and grand children can continue to create their own in an amazing environment.

While those who can are pitching in to clean up the grounds of fallen trees and road blocks before the process of rebuilding can begin, it also takes money to be able to remove such large trees, making it safe for everyone to move back. Without this the story of Bridgton Marina may not be able to continue.

It is such a wonderful, strong community and no one wants to see it end. Any help would be appreciated for the initial clean up so the rebuilding of camps can begin.

Thank you,

Friends of Bridgton Marina
