Let's Buy Safari Youth Club a Van!

Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends, Friends-of-Friends and Future Friends,

I have had the joy of volunteering for the Safari Youth Club for the past year. This young organization provides after-school programs for refugee youth in Manchester, New Hampshire. The founders are two refugees themselves; Hamasi Juma and Chris Ndabarushima spent seven and nine years respectively in refugee camps prior to coming to the United States. During their many years in a number of camps they served as youth leaders. Now they have brought their expertise to their new home in New Hampshire and founded the Safari Youth Club to provide refugee youth with activities, mentoring and peer support that will encourage the development of skills and talents, while helping them to avoid negative peer pressure. The club seeks to help youth and their families successfully integrate into the community. They have accomplished this through athletics, art and music education, and of course, everyone’s favorite game: soccer!

Hamasi and Chris have made amazing progress on their own, supporting 48 children with a plan to expand the program to 100 youth. But now, we need YOUR help!

Safari Youth Club is in desperate need of a van to transport students after school to the program. In many of New Hampshire’s refugee families, parents are unable to provide transportation as they are at work, or in some cases, cannot drive. But this should not prevent children from becoming members of the supportive community found at the Safari Youth Club. With a van, Safari Youth Club could increase participation and expand their network within the refugee community.

I have committed to raising $5,000, roughly 1/3rd the cost of a good used passenger van. Please help us reach this goal! A donation of any amount can help make a lasting impact for the children of Safari Youth Club and New Hampshire’s proud refugee community.

Thank you for your help and for spreading the word about our goal!!
