As a recently founded charter school in South Los Angeles, Synergy Quantum Academy seeks to share best practices in order to close the achievement gap.
While we have developed a rigorous academic program, we are still working on developing extracurricular programs that support our school culture and allow our students to have opportunities that are equal to more affluent schools.
Our goal this year is to send a group of 10 underprivileged students on a week long trip to the Sierra Nevada mountains with WYLD - Wylderness Youth Leadership & Diversity - to develop academically and communally as leaders. We have entrusted these students with coming back and creating positive change for our school culture. The students who are participating are taking, what is for them, a large educational risk, as we will be backpacking and hiking for one week.
Upon returning from this trip, students will have discussed STEM topics, developed their leadership abilities, served the greater California community, and ultimately had a life changing experience for the better.
As an underprivileged school, we do not have the resources to fully finance this trip for our students. We appreciate any financial help that you can offer our students in order to provide a life changing experience. I know and understand that there are a lot of projects that can be funded, and I hope that you consider ours in your selection process.
Proceeds accumulated from GoFundMe will help lower the tuition expense of each student, making the trip more feasible for them and their famillies to participate.
