Ron Kiverago desperately needs help
Donación protegida
Three and a half years ago Ron and Monika Kiverago moved to Costa Rica to retire.
March 10 2019, Ronald A. Kiverago shattered his right femur at the hip in a fall.
He had an operation to repair his hip in a private hospital, the surgeons installed a pin in the hip and a plate on the femur, and he was released to home care.
Monikas brother and sister in law have already contributed $60,000 for the initial private hospital surgery. We are very grateful to them
After recuperating for a couple of weeks he ended up at a public hospital hospital with an internal infection which quickly became worse. Antibiotics were administered and the infection mutated several times till he was in full sepsis shock with organ shut down, intubated and sedated on 10 machines keeping him alive, monitoring him, in intensive care and in isolation with no visitors unless fully disinfected and covered and then only one visitor per day. The infection site has been irrigated 4 times now and the infection comes back mutated, weakening him further. They may even remove the hardware and replace it.
At the moment he is awake and partially alert / delirious after being irrigated for the 4th time, but now in a ward again not isolated. Doctors say he is weakening and may go septic again soon.
This has been going for 10 weeks now, and the medical bills have already piled up.
One issue is that there is no overnight supervision for the staff and he is not being given his medications on time or sometimes at all. And the staff ignores his pleas for help. They have had to hire a nurse to supervise his care overnight and the money for this has about run out as they are living on his pension.
Costa Rica has a tiered health system, to get better care you need to go to a private care facility and Ron needs Better care than he is receiving at the public hospital.
The money from this fund will go to transferring Ron to a private health care facility and to pay for the private nurses they have hired so far, and will hire for continuing care and rehabilitation.
Ron’s eldest son is getting married this fall In Ontario Canada. It would be great to get him back to healthy so he can attend
