Hello family, friends, work-mates and childhood buddies:

Many are not aware of the situation going on with our family as we have been struggling to keep it together but here it goes......

Now in days, we often hear so many discussions about immigrantion, dreamers, elections, amnesty and deportation stints .... We hear the convos and often see it as a far-fetched matter.  In fact, like in my family's case, we try hard to block that reality because the truth is that the topic evoked fear in us ... fear of having our families ripped apart.  Some of us block it so well that we seldomly stop to think about what would happen if that exodus did take place... Sadly, it is not until reality hits that you begin to breakdown and drown in sorrow like my family and I are now.

You see, my older brother, Rene Granados is an illegal alien.  He and my mother came to the USA in 1983 when Rene was still in diapers, merely two years old in search of the American Dream… the dream that many of us find but cannot fulfill due to our immigration status… the dream that is difficult to reach but accessible if the timing is right... the dream that Rene is still chasing.

My brother after living in the USA for 33 years is facing deportation back to Honduras, a country where he knows nothing of other than what our mother has told him about.  He is facing the daunting thought of going back to what would be to him a foreign nation and leaving his partner of 8 years (a US Citizen herself) Nellie and his four children: Desiree (14), Rene (7), Sofia (6) and Adriana (1).

Unfortunately, during his journey Rene (like some of us) has made mistakes and it is those unresolved mistakes that have now put his family in distress and why this appeal is being made. I ask that we please don’t judge him and instead exercise sympathy because it is my nieces and nephew that truly need your help.

Rene is currently being held in custody and his children are heartbroken… lost without their father. Rene knows how hard it was for our mother to raise him and our siblings on her own, how it limited his opportunities and how much he wished he had a present father to guide and steer him in the right direction like he hopes to continue to do with his four children.

Please help us; he does not want to leave his children stranded! He is a good family man that is active in all occasions and wants to continue supporting and loving them here in the country where they are from and where he ultimately feels like he belongs in and identifies with: the USA.

Having spoken to a few attorneys, they have given us hope ... Rene has a fighting chance but we need your help.  Rene was the only member in their household with an income; Nellie (a stay-at-home mom) is now finding it difficult to keep the bills paid and raising the funds to fight this case.  The attorneys' fees alone are about $4500 not to mention the processing fees: it is a substantial amount of money but we cannot lose hope!

Likewise, we know that money is not an easy subject to address as we all have our own financial responsibilities to keep but we plead that you spare him some hope. With your help we plan to give Rene’s children that fighting chance they deserve to keep him home by retaining the appropriate attorneys, paying processing fees and any pending fines.

Please help us keep Rene home with his family.  Any donation you are able to give will be appreciated: as the famous slogan says, "every little helps".  Nellie and I will keep you posted as we push forward and progress.  God Bless you and thank you in advance for your kind donation.

Sincerely,

Amelia L Granados

We also ask that you please share this cry for help. every penny and every share counts
