The Navajo Nation Relief Fund Covid 19

27,000 sq. miles with a population of less than 175,000. Over 4000 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 140 have lost their lives already. They have the highest per capita rate at 2300 per 100,000, with New York behind them at 1,668 per 100,000. This is the Navajo Nation. Their high infection rate is contributed to having only 13 grocery stores, living in multi-generational houses or in close together housing and less than 30% having running water and/or electricity. Add to that a drastically underfunded health care system and The Nation is suffering at alarming rates.

 

With offices in Denver and Phoenix, Rainmaker Landscapes, LLC is joining alongside several other independent volunteers, nonprofit organizations and businesses, to gather much needed supplies and deliver them to the areas most vulnerable. Just to name a few of the areas we are targeting on our mission – Monument Valley, Kayenta, Shiprock, Window Rock, Tuba City and many others.

 

We have a list of the most needed items that we can share with you via email. If you would prefer to donate funds, they are being accepted through Venmo under @Rainmaker-Fundraising. They have asked for the last 4 digits of the phone number for some donations – it is 5982.

 

We have also contacted tortilla companies, a company that makes the flour they use in their tortillas and breads, and welcome any ideas, thoughts or connections you may have.

The Nation’s immediate medical needs include the following:

·         N95 Masks

·         Non-latex gloves (nitrile) and other medical grade gloves

·         Goggles/eye protection

·         Surgical and isolation masks

·         Thermometers (no touch scan)

·         Portable pulse oximeters (handheld)

·         Ventilators

·         Non-perfumed hand sanitizer (60% or more ethanol alcohol or 70% isopropanol)

·         Disinfecting wipes and sprays

·         Alcohol-based cleaning wipes (e.g. Sani-Cloth wipes)

·         Medical Gowns

The Nation’s immediate community needs include the following:

·         Disposable masks and cloth/fabric masks*

·         Cleaning supplies, including disinfectant wipes and spray

·         Liquid hand soap and hand sanitizer

·         Bluebird Flour from The Cortez Milling Co

·         Toiletries

·         Thermometers

·         Paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, and tissue)

·         Non-perishable food

·         Bottled water

·         Baby necessities, including formula, diapers, and wipes

·         Hay and feed for livestock

·         Pet food

·         Firewood and coal
