Raf's Voiceover Education & Demo

Donation protected
Many of you know Raf personally. In the past three years, he has faced an exhorbitant amount of loss. Sometimes life hands us these challenges to help us figure out who we are meant to be.

Raf has lost his video store as a small business owner, his younger brother unexpectedly to asthma, and most recently, his mom. With so much loss, sometimes it is hard to see the forest for the trees and find our way out of grief and pain.

Raf is the kindest soul I know. He is always looking out for others. When we first met over 11 years ago, he stopped me cold in the middle of our date to walk an older person across the street that he knew. If you know Raf, you know he often does this! He checks on the homebound in our neighborhood and gets their mail, he runs errands for people who can't do it themselves and he is always stopping to say hi to the many people who rely on his smile to get through the day. He is informally known as the Mayor of Brooklyn Heights because you can't be around Raf for more than five minutes without someone stopping to say hello and catch up with him. He is beloved.

And even with all of the recent loss surrounding him, he still has hope and big dreams for his life. He wants to do voiceover work but with all that has happened, he has had a difficult time getting ahead to get the classes and demo recorded because other expenses get in the way. He made it through the introductory coursework at Edge studios in NYC last fall, but he had to stop for a while to raise the money.

Raf wants to continue these classes but he has his hands full with caring for his father and helping him. Focusing on what is possible through a new career path will help him refocus a bit and channel his energy to build a path forward for himself. Sometimes, we all need a leg up in life to accomplish the unexpected because we may not have all of the tools to be self sufficient. Asking for help does not come easy! He has often expressed how he wants to get back to classes and coaching at Edge to record his demo and start learning and applying new skills.

We all go through things in life and sometimes it is just the little things that can make all the difference between getting stuck and moving forward.

Will you help make this dream happen for him?

You can read more about Edge here: http://www.edgestudio.com

$
1500 would buy him a three pack of coaching sessions, additional technical coursework and a demo. If he were to continue, it would cost more but they also have payment plans.
