Project Sashakt
Hello everyone,
Project Sashakt (which means self-empowerment) aims to establish a COVID-19 surveillance system for rural areas located around my hometown Anand, Gujarat. This project intends to equip Tribhuvandas Foundation’s village health volunteers with COVID-19 kits consisting of necessary resources such as N-95 masks, hand sanitizers, pulse oximeters, and digital infrared thermometers. The volunteers typically deliver maternal and child health related programs in rural areas of Anand, Kheda, and Mahisagar district, but their skills will now be expanded to surveil villages for COVID-19 cases and provide timely care and guidance to individuals with COVID-19 symptoms. We are currently helping 5 villages namely Raipura, Sokhda, Neja, Islampura, and Navagam vanta and need 25 kits that will last for 6 months. Following this project, we aim to expand this initiative to other rural areas around Anand, Kheda and Mahisagar district.
Once the go fund me campaign is completed, all funds collected will be withdrawn by me and delivered to Tribhuvandas Foundation in Anand, Gujarat as they are responsible for procurement and distribution of COVID-19 kits. All proceeds will go towards buying the appropriate equipment and providing honourariums to the volunteers. The team of Project Sashakt will continue to update you on our initiative and the impact it is making. A breakdown of kit and program costs is provided in the image attached. I would like to thank you all for taking the time to learn about our humble initiative. During India’s second COVID-19 wave, much of rural India including the areas around my hometown continued to see high case rates and mortality that were further exacerbated by a scarce healthcare system that struggled to keep up. As India prepares itself for the next wave, the team of Project Sashakt hopes that this initiative will help to put a system in place that protects health workers and saves lives by early tracing, tracking, and treatment of COVID-19 cases.

Tribhuvandas Foundation is an “Integrated Rural Health & Development Programme” of Amul. The foundation was established by Shri Tribhuvandas Patel, then Founder Chairman of Amul and supported by Dr. Verghese Kurien. The foundation was established with the intention of providing needs-based health programs in areas with limited to no medical services.
