Good Deed Grocery Buffalo, NY, Youth Food Pantry

Donation protected
We have opened a FREE GROCERY STORE inside of the International Preparatory High School (PS 198) in Buffalo, NY and need your help keeping it stocked!

We are fundraising to continue to fund our FREE grocery and general store and stock hygiene items.

We have worked hard since the pandemic to open a FREE Grocery and General Store for students in our High School. Recently, we have partnered with FeedMoreWNY to open a school-based food pantry, but students have indicated that they need things many may take for granted: tissues, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, feminine products, coats, blankets, clothes and more. They need new socks, underwear, cooking pans, new sneakers, sheets, bedding, towels-- and the list goes on.

Recently, we have partnered with FeedMoreWNY to supply food pantry items for our school. We continue to look for partnerships to help bring healthy food options to our students and to keep an inventory of personal care and hygiene items available to students.

Our impact so far:
In the month of November, through the kind donations of staff we were able to provide 40+ students with personal care packages of deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, body wash, feminine products and more. We also partnered with alumni Steven Means to assist him in distributing free turkeys to students for Thanksgiving. Since then, we have had an uptick in requests for food for home. Currently we have 100 students who have signed up for our student support program.

In December we provided students with new blankets, and access to high quality coats, hats and gloves for the winter. We have also been able to help a few students with weekly food packages, funded through donations from family, friends, staff and student fundraisers.

In February we gave out break-week food packages thanks to projects funded on DonorsChoose. We will be giving our soup, snacks, hot chocolate and baking mixes with pans— to 60 students!

In March we hosted our Grand Opening and had 150 students and staff registered to shop our FREE general store.

In April, we serviced students in 268 shopping appointments, helped over 1000 community members get food and provided over 10,000 meals to those in need.

In July we reached 8 tons of food stocked and distributed to our community in Buffalo.

In October we reopened for the school year, now stocked with refrigerated and frozen items as well as fresh fruit and vegetables!

In November we will be hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway!

We need funds to help maintain our stock of soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine care products and other items needed by families in our school and funds to scale our project to support more young people in the city of Buffalo.

Helping us will change the lives of some very great and very hungry kids
