I regret to announce my cousin passed away this week after giving birth to her second child.
On Tuesday, July 25th my cousin, Onystei Castillo Lopez, had complications after giving birth to her baby boy, Jorge Jason. Although the baby was healthy, shortly after he came into this world, Ony, was rushed into the operating room to do an emergency hysterectomy due to an uncontrollable blood loss. The outcome of the operation was optimistic. Unfortunately, at 3 AM the following day, Ony, experienced a sudden cardiac arrest from which she did not recover.
She leaves behind her newborn baby Jorge Jason, 7-year-old daughter, Priscilla, and husband, Jorge. They have waited about 7 years for their second child. Priscilla was very involved in their hope for her brother. She openly shared with her parents about her excitement for a baby brother. Their hopes were let down at a miscarriage they had a year or two ago. Priscilla also shared in that pain quietly to herself and with her parents. When the news of soon-to-be baby “Jason” was announced everyone was very excited and anxious for his arrival. Everything went well for her throughout the pregnancy. She lived through Jason’s first few moments on this earth and took a couple pictures with him before they parted ways forever. We are saddened for Priscilla most who gained a brother but lost her mother. Priscilla will continue to be Ony’s mini-me and will always carry her mother in her heart.
This GoFund Me page was setup to request donations to go toward their immediate expenses like funeral expenses, child counseling for, Priscilla, and all of the other household expenses. Ony, brought in 50% or more of their household income. You can imagine all of the expenses associated with the drastic changes of their family. Jorge, head of the household, will lose several weeks of work trying to care for the new baby boy, caring for Priscilla, and the changes of Priscilla’s life not having her mom at home. Jorge and Ony also supported Ony’s parents who live with them.
Please have sympathy for this family who really needs your financial support. This money will be utilized to cover their expenses for which they have no way of covering without your help. The funds are needed immediately to cover the cost of the funeral service on Saturday. Priscilla will need child-counseling as soon as possible, too. Jorge will manage the final expenses. My sister, Jessica Johnson, and I, Jamie Lopez put this page together to help raise funds for our cousin Ony and the family she leaves behind. Jorge, Ony's husband, is the beneficiary of this account. I have shared this account with Jorge directly. Our plan is to meet in person and exchange the information needed to complete the withdrawal process. These funds will go to meet the immediate expenses such as a funeral, household expenses, child counseling for Priscilla, Jorge and Ony's 7-year-old daughter, and newborn child care.
