OCEAN Nepal
OCEAN Nepal is an orphanage in Kathmandu,
Nepal that is run by a very good friend of mine named Rajendra. Possibly the kindest man
I've ever met, Rajendra decided to create a home for children from Dhading, the rural
district in Nepal that he himself was raised in. He has grown the orphanage
from housing 8 children in a small rented apartment, to housing nearly 20 in a
5 story building that he had built especially for the children and volunteers.
The focal point and main pillar of OCEAN
Nepal's philosophy is "breaking the cycle of poverty through
education". OCEAN Nepal provides food, shelter, a sense of family but
above all, it provides access to education, and a way for these children to
rise above poverty and to break the cycle. They go to school 6 days a week and
are "hitting the books" for about 10 hours a day. They study hard
both at school and at home, and the reason I am raising money this March is so
that one more of the children has the opportunity to pursue post secondary
education (engineering, medicine, etc) when they are finished grade 12.
If you have any questions or want to learn
more about OCEAN Nepal, you can visit www.oceannepal.org or just ask me. This
truly is an incredible opportunity you are helping to give the children of
OCEAN Nepal, and Rajendra and I sincerely appreciate any donations to our
cause.
Thank you all so much, and Namaste!
